Founded in 1995 as In Harmony, Turning Pointe Therapeutic Riding is the only fully accredited member of NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicapped Association) in the state of Rhode Island. NARHA is a national organization dedicated to promoting and supporting therapeutic riding. NARHA provides standards for safety and quality for program activities, facilities and administration.

Since Turning Pointe Therapeutic Riding began a pilot program with eight riders in April of 1996, we have grown to serve over 160 individuals from ages two to senior citizen, with disabilities such as mental retardation, Downs Syndrome, cerebral palsy, brain injury, spina bifida, autism, multiple sclerosis, learning disabilities, and hearing and visual impairments. We also provide recreational riding and hippotherapy. Our riders experience improved muscle tone, balance, coordination, gross and fine motor skills, and self-esteem. The discipline associated with working with horses and social interaction between peers is therapeutic to the mind, body, and spirit.

We thank you for your interest and support and invite you to tour our facility in Ashaway, observe our classes and meet our staff and horses.

Congratulations! One of our wonderful volunteers, Sandy Antoni, received the VCRI Outstanding Volunteer Award for 2008. Click here to learn more.
