If you are interested in our services, you need to complete a few forms and submit them to Turning Pointe. Once these forms have been received, they will be reviewed and you will be placed on our waiting list. As with many programs, Turning Pointe currently has a long waiting list. If you are considering becoming one of our clients, we encourage you to send in an application so that we can put your name on the list. You may also want to check with other programs in the area. The best way to find other programs is to contact the American Riding for the Handicapped Association (www.NARHA.org). Because most clients tend to stay in the program for several years once they begin, our turn-over rate is low. Therefore, the wait can be long. Factors such as available time (after school hours and Saturdays are prime), size of horse needed, and service requested/ recommended will all play a part in determining when you get off our waiting list. When there is an opening, families will be contacted in the order in which the applications were received until an applicant is found who is available to fill the open slot. This could be the very first applicant on the list, or it might be the ninety-ninth. Fees for services provided by a NARHA certified instructor range from $35 to $50, depending on the duration of the service, which will be determined after evaluation. Age, degree of disability and goals of the client are considered. Fees provided by a NARHA/AHA certified, licensed
therapist are $50/ half hour or are covered by RI Medicaid if the
client has R Medicaid and is under 21 years of age.
