Turning Pointe Therapeutic Riding is a NARHA Premier Accredited Center
|
|
Therapeutic
riding includes equine activities used to achieve psycho-educational
goals as well as to provide the individual with skills within the
sport of horseback riding; whereby the rider directs the movement
of the horse with whatever modifications necessary (i.e. sidewalkers,
leaders, modifies equipment or modifies teaching style). Through
the development of an individual riding plan, the NARHA certified
instructor is able to achieve individual objectives and goals for
each of our participants.
Therapeutic riding provides improvement in muscle
tone, balance, mobility, focus and, most importantly, the client
is given the opportunity to build self-esteem and a feeling of independence.
Prior to initiation of the therapeutic riding program, each rider
meets with our Turning Pointe therapeutic program staff for a medical/personal
evaluation and is placed in a program suitable to his or her needs.
Medical professionals are on staff and available for consultation.
NARHA certified instructors also utilize goals as set by local school
IEP's and community health professionals.
